Led by the eldest brother Manuel and continuing a family tradition of several generations of emigrant cooks, confectioners and waiters, they moved from their native Pontevedra to Madrid to rebuild their lives and return to the origins of the family; to found since 1969 several establishments located in the most emblematic areas of the city.
Giving body and soul, with the unconditional support of his parents Don Salvino Pardellas and Doña Deliciosa Rivera and the respective wives of the brothers, Taberna Real was born in the heart of Madrid de los Austrias, in Plaza de Isabel II, which opened its doors to the public in 1997, coinciding with the inauguration and reopening of the Teatro Real.
The Taberna Real was established in a place known in the 16th century as one of the old quarters used by the Royal Palace service, whose functions consisted of carrying out all the gastronomic tasks that could not be carried out in the palace.
Divided into three main areas (tavern, restaurant and terrace), the decoration of Taberna Real is dominated by noble materials such as oak or palatial ceramics, unique decorative elements such as a chandelier from the glassware of the Royal Alcazar of Segovia or different musical instruments that belonged to the Royal Theatre (harp, jukebox, piano...).

Undoubtedly, the heart of our restaurant. The most informal space, where you can enjoy our famous portions and tapas accompanied by a well-drawn beer, a well-served wine or that fresh vermouth that goes perfectly with a good conversation.
A main bar, with a curved shape, where all the good work of our cuisine is served in small bites and which also has a small area of low tables for those who need to take their time in peace and quiet.
The most formal space. The area reserved for those who want to enjoy our food without rushing. For those who want to eat at table and tablecloth. With capacity for 65 diners, it is the perfect place to celebrate any event such as your birthday or celebrations.
Strolling through the centre of Madrid is well worth a rest. That's why we have it fully air-conditioned, with individual heaters for when it's cold and with pressurised misting jets and a 14x4 metre awning to lower the temperature when it's hot in Madrid.
